summer days

summer days are meant for things like:
the river
homemade ice ceam
tomatoes
entire days spent reading
sidewalk chalk
the pool, the ocean, WATER
roadtrips
gardens

i've had three glorious days off of work. not so glorious part... i have those days off, due to the fact that i have to work the drive thru for the next 3 days. 12 hour shifts. BUT these 3 days have been worth it.

Amanda and I went to Mt. Airy. Which, is one of my most favoite places on earth. For those that don't know, it's the town that the Andy Griffith Show was based off of. We ate at Snappy Lunch, and I had the most delicious PORK CHOP SANDWICH.

This man caught me creepin'. But it's obvious, this diner is precious.

"it feels like heaven out here on the streets"

this weekend, we went to see O.A.R. ever heard of them? if not, you're missing out. and they have a new cd coming out aug. 2. so, if you don't know who they are... this is a perfect chance to fall in love with them.

... it rained... but it was still so fun!

july 4, 2011

we rushed around town, trying to see as many fireworks as possible. the first show, was pretty good. the second, we had an AMAZING view for, from the top of a parking deck. but, unfortunately, the smoke had other plans for our amazing view....

ohhh the days before cameras...

so, 2 weeks ago. the lovely anne page invited a bunch of us girls (her other daughters) to her house for dinner. can i say, i LOVE this woman. she's the best mom, the funniest, the most precious. AND an amazing cook. so, needless to say, we were all very excited to go.

wellll... as we were taking pictures like thhheeessseee......

all night... i forgot my camera at their house. so, for the past 2 weeks... i've been cameraless. and it's lllaammmeee.... so it got me thinking. what would we do without cameras. i realize that i'm the one that annoys everyone by wanting to take pictures of EVERY single moment. but honestly, without cameras, we would be walking around, not remebering the times like these ------ (see above pictures)
i wouldn't know that my granny and this lady, were best friends...

that mine and jessa's bedroom, the day we moved out, looked like this....

or that this is what a snow angel looks like..

probably 3/4 of my life, 3/4 of the fun, 3/4 of the joy, would be lost without pictures. and i for one, am not willing to give that up. therefore, i will NEVER go another 2 weeks without that thing attached at my hip!

summer saturdays

today, my mother and i spent the day antiquing in the cutest, smallest town... walnut cove, NC.

ok, so the term ANTIQUING may be a little more "refined" a little more "cultured" than what me and my mom actually do at these antique shops. we basically browse around, finding the cheap and quaint little things that are of little to no actual value. but they're things that once were someone's PRIZED possessions. like quilts that have been sewn by hand, and worn out by babies and picnics. cookbooks that have been marked up, and greased on. hand towels that have mopped up spills, and wiped the hands of hard-working men. today, we found some STEALS. i found the cutest little orange juice pitcher, with tiny little smiling oranges dancing around on it. also, lots of cloth napkins in MINT condition. and the CUTEST little wedding present for my BFF that's getting married in november. (if i can keep the surprise until then)
my mom found this...

that's right. it's a COCONUT DOG. and it can be YOUR'S for the meer price of $4.
she found a lot of other good things too! (p.s. she left the coconut dog there for someone else's treasure)

we ate cheeseburgers at the cutest little diner across the street.

that's it! the food was delish! although, i was a little nervous at first glance. our cook? well, who WOULDN'T trust a bald man sporting a grey wife beater & boob sweat??

we loved it. and had the most wonderful day!
