lakes and losers

this weekend was ACTION PACKED and oh so SWEET! friday night was movie night at the local best friends place. mix in a little late night girl talk and tickle fights, and you have a very sleepless night! bright and early saturday morning, this girl....

and me spent the day at her grandma's house at the lake. we ate yummy food here...

and discussed quilting, cleaning, days gone by, and family all day long. her grandma is precious. (it's hard to find one that isn't) we spent the afternoon by the lake, eating ice cream, and enjoying the view!

saturday night we celebrated the wedding bliss of Mr and Mrs Chris Ross! they are the most precious and perfect couple ever.

saturday night me, amanda, and tarienne drove down to charlotte to spend the night with kathleen and go to the last day of the YSA conference there. kathleen took us on a tour of downtown charlotte as soon as we got there. we had so much fun! and charlotte is one of those towns that you have to see to believe. it's gorgeous! i love the mix of new and old architecture and design. there's a brand new highrise, right next to an old rock chapel. the trees there look like they were planted 500 years ago. it's really beautiful!
so we get up sunday morning and church was wonderful. directly afterwards, we met the most interesting guy. i won't name names. we'll just call his name, BB. as in bug boy. well, this BB, made a B-line for Kathleen. he said, "kathleen, is this your sister?" in reference to me. we were both flattered, but answered in the negative. he introduced himself to me, amanda, and tarienne. he then asked where we were from, and we answered. then came the second question, which, you just had to HEAR him ask. ... "sooooooo... you ladiesssss..., SINGLE?? hahahaha. it was all i could do not to laugh. we answered his questions, and then listened to the ensuing macho-man display. needless to say, we were not impressed. apparently, he picked up on our lack thereof, and made himself scarce after a few short minutes. his pick-up line was the source of many jokes for the remainder of the day though!
well, this theme of men trying to show off their talents, hair, smile, job, car, etc. continued throughout the day. at lunch, we endured the arguement of whose office elevator was better.....
after church, we decided to take a walk down to the most precious park, we had noticed the night before. after a little set-back, including a very rude locksmith, a bobby pin, about 5 credit cards, a prayer, and a very nice & precious boy that saved the day... we made our way to the park! it was beautiful! and a wonderful end, to a very interesting day!

pops' day

this past sunday was father's day. and, as all of you know, i have the world's greatest dad.

never in my life have a met a man more humble, more wise, more tender-hearted, and more precious. examples of each: he sacrifices so much to make his children happy. he comes ALIVE at the sight of his grandkids. he wears a plaid shirt everyday. in previously mentioned plaid shirts, there is a pocket. and in this pocket, is normally a stash of pistachios, peanuts, cashews, grapes, m&m's, etc. he is funny. tonight we went to dinner to celebrate his day, and when he got in my car... there was a dried up green leaf that had been drug in from outside. he picked it up, and put it outside. and when he did, he said "next time you should hide your marijuana stash better" haha. he's cute. and he's the best father in the world. and he's mine, forever.

a few things that you've missed....

scott had a birthday!

eva got cuter!

and she is FOUR years old now!

this is nothing new.... but i LOVE these people

the river on a hot, hot day

if you're from the south, and you live in EDEN (the land of two rivers)... when it's summer time, you spend your days in water. at the boat landing, at the lake, floating the river, at the pool, or in a bathtub! my family happens to love the river. we're "river rats", if you will. (but not trashy river rats) while andrew and molly were here, we floated the river and went to the boat landing (twice). where ever there's a boat landing, there (by the grace of God) is a tree that just so happens to be perfectly placed above the river as to allow jumping off of. and there also always happens to be a rope swing.
this is the south. this is the river. and this is a good time.

a long, hot summer

andrew and molly and baby reese came to visit for a llllooonnnngg time!
they were here for a few days, and then went to DC & PA for a wedding. and then came back here! andrew is his same old, PRECIOUS self! seriously, he's cute. him and my dad have tickle fights. is that not cute!?

molly is equally as cute. she's pregnant and has quite a belly! she's going to be an amazing mom. basically every time there was a free minute, allie and molly were having baby talk.

aren't the cute?

even though me and my siblings are old, it still feels like we're 12 years old, all the time! we never age! we just gain more wisdom and knowledge and faith. but deep deep down... we're stuck in that world where all you want is for your older sister to think you're cool, and for your brother to tease you every time you turn around, where all you want to do is BE AROUND THEM, climbing trees! now, we just have some babies, adult responsibilites, jobs, and oil changes to throw in the mix. lets just be glad, we're not still popping each other's pimples.
